Two days of work and a whole lot of sweat later this is what I had to show for it. Good news is that my grandma didn’t believe that I made it. Bad news is that it didn’t look like the picture I started with.

Yesterday I volunteered to get my grandmother’s birthday cake for her surprise dinner on Sunday. What I didn’t think about at the time was where I was going to get said cake. I went to the grocery stores but couldn’t find anything that I felt was appropriate. Then I went to the only bakery nearbly. They don’t do specialty cakes. Wonderful. Then I call up the lady that did our wedding cake. She can’t do it because she has a wedding this weekend. Should have known since June happens to be a big wedding month.
After much deliberation , I have decided to make the cake myself. I love to bake and my cakes are pretty good. I just haven’t ever had the time or energy to try to make them look pretty. That is going to change with this cake. It will be exactly what I was imagining. I will try to post pictures of it later and give you the full rundown on its creation. This is what it is supposed to look like. Hopefully it will turn out.

With Father’s Day coming I am at a loss for ideas. I am usually a good gift-giver but when it comes to HH I just haven’t mastered the art. I finally convinced him to make an Amazon wishlist. The only problem now is that he did it too late for me to order anything off of it. Now I have the fun task of trying to locate these things in the stores. This should be a fun weekend.
