I know that my child being the only grandchild means that he will be spoiled, especially when it comes to birthdays and holidays.  It isn’t that I don’t appreciate our friends and family lavishing him with extraaordinary amounts of gifts and candy.  I just don’t really like to deal with the aftermath of it.  Our kitchen and breakfast area resembles an Easter store with quite a few Easter baskets overflowing with candy, plastic eggs and toys.  I know that I am just as guilty of overdoing it as the rest of them are.  Maybe it is my way of trying to make up for my own inadequacies or issues left over from childhood.  Maybe it is because he is just so darn cute with chocolate dribbling down his chin and the oh-so-sweet chocolatey kisses.  I’m not sure which it is but in any case, does anyone want some of our candy?  We have plenty to share.  Just don’t let Z know that I am trying to give away his candy.
