So, my bestest friend is having a baby. A little boy to be exact and he is due a week after Z’s birthday. Of course, me being such a good friend and all, I told her offered to throw her a baby shower. I love to plan stuff and I am anal super-organized. Naturally she accepted my offer and ever since I have been in a party planning whirlwind. The shower is August 1st. I started planning it about 2 or 3 months ago. She had literally just found out she was pregnant and what she was having.
This is how crazy organized I am. I have an Office Live site for us to collaborate on. That way, she could add addresses as she found them, I could show her the cute shower games I had picked out to play, we could work on the menu and she could see the agenda. Within a month of her agreeing to let me throw the shower, I had the menu prepared, decorations/theme picked out, all the crap ordered except for the favors, the games chosen and a checklist for me so that I wouldn’t forget to do something.
I remember my showers, my parents are divorced so I had multiples, there wasn’t a theme and there weren’t any games. I love themes and I love shower games and luckily so does my friend. My showers were just about the presents. I didn’t set them up that way, the people who threw them did. Don’t get me wrong, I love presents as much as the next person but it would’ve been nice to have a reason to socialize with each other.
Since the shower is starting to get closer, I am starting to get in a panic. I still haven’t mailed the invitations. I haven’t put the favors together. I haven’t bought any of the food. And now my HH wants to put me the family on a budget. How am I supposed to cater fix all of the food that I had planned while I am on a budget? As if being on a budget wasn’t bad enough, my friend is inviting 35 people. I don’t think I could do tuna sandwiches for 35 people + me and her on a budget, much less the spread that I had come up with. I’m stressing about it but it isn’t like HH has already made the budget. Right now it is just a thought since we keep spending all of our money. I personally think that our $700+ electric bill has something to do with it.
