Yesterday I turned another year older. Seeing how I am only 27, it was almost a non-event to me. HH always has a difficult time figuring out what to get me for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. so I typically help him out by giving him a few suggestions about a month ahead of time. This time I asked for either an iPhone or a new tattoo. I really wanted the tattoo but I knew I wouldn’t get it. I didn’t, I got the 16G white iPhone. It is pretty awesome from what little time I have had playing with it.
My mom and I came up with a great present from her. They would keep Z from Saturday midday to Sunday early evening where we would meet to pick him up by us. It was the best gift she could have given us (both HH and I benefited from this gift so it is not mine alone to enjoy). We spent Saturday shopping all day and then we went and had a nice dinner together with a few drinks (where we both noticed that the place was really noisy and we hadn’t ever realized that before). We came home and had some “us” time and then we were bored. There wasn’t anything on TV and we were too tired and full to get up and go anywhere. Sunday was spent doing pretty much nothing except getting my iPhone. That took up the entire day for the most part.
We met my family and Z at a mexican place over by our house to “celebrate” my birthday. *yawn* I don’t really like the whole birthday dinner thing but since I am SOOO compromising I went along with it for everyone else’s enjoyment. Huge mistake. Someone told them it was my birthday. Every waiter came out at the end of dinner with this huge ass sombrero that they made me wear while they sang “Happy Birthday”. Livid does not even describe how I felt. Needless to say, there are NO pictures of that.

Should I really be blogging? That is a pretty tough question for me at the moment.
While I really do enjoy having a place to write down what is in my head, I seem to be using this blog more as a way to play with the layout and make it look pretty than I actually write in it. I know that I am a perfectionist when it comes to every project I take on (such as this) and that I am merely trying to find the right image to reflect me and my varying personality. If I spent half as much time blogging as I spend tweaking my blog, you would have quite a bit more to read.
That brings up my other issue. My blog is not very popular. I have very few visitors, even less subscriptions and even less comments. I am not trying to actively get readers but I expected to have found a few more than I have. At least my mom or my sisters maybe. That is okay in the big scheme of things, I am doing this more for myself than I am for anyone else but maybe I am doing something wrong. If I am, will you tell me please?

Hello. My name is The Working Momma and I am a nerd. I do not come from nerds. There is really no history of nerdiness in my family. I guess I sort of developed into a nerd. My nerdiness can be traced all the way back to Montessori School. I was a nerd all through my 1-12 public school years except for grades 6-8 where I rebelled from my nerdiness and tried to be dumb. Didn’t work though so I returned to my already well-established nerdhood to finish up high shool. I then went on to college where I began to master the fine art of nerdiness by studying Chemical Engineering. I, like so many other nerds before me, was drawn to one of my own kind. I met my husband in school. I was like an apprentice nerd and he would have been the master nerd. You see, he was the teaching assistant in my laboratory class. We flirted over the pressure gauges and such. Who needs a temperature probe when there is nerd love in the air? It was HOT! We both graduated, he with a PhD and me with a BS. We went on to get married and pregnant with hopefully a second generation nerd. How could he not be with parents like us?
If you are a nerd like my husband or me, or if you just need a good present for a nerd you know, here is a great website for all of your nerd needs.
