I’m working on a project for my Mom’s birthday. Unfortunately I have changed my mind several times as to what I was going to do . Therefore it is the Tuesday before her birthday and I just started the latest birthday mutation last night at 9:30. Once I am done with it and given it to her I will post pictures and all of the details on here and on Ravelry.  I haven’t even added it onto my Project List there because my mom is pretty sneaky.

Here is what I can tell you about it so far.  I found the pattern on Ravelry and it was free.  The pattern maker is a Houston area momma also.  So far, I really wish that I didn’t have to give the gift away because I want it.  Maybe a different color though.

At my new job I have to have an ID badge on me at all times and so they give everyone a lanyard to keep it on.  The only problem was that my lanyard kept coming open and falling off.  Plus it was a really bright blue that didn’t go with everything.  So I decided to make my own.  Here it is.

It’s nothing fancy and it was super quick and easy.  Juast a simple chain stitch for the entire lenth with a bobble thingy on one end for the clasp.  Then I looped the chain stitch from the non-bobble end into a circle that was big enough to fit over the bobble and attached it using a yarn needle.  I then wrapped the excess yarn around that stitch to make it look more finished (I don’t know if there is a name fore doing this or not).  After I had made the big, huge circle necklace shape, I put the bobble through the hole and drew it taut so that I could find the bottom center point.  Using the same yarn needle and yarn, I attached the two sides together using the same method as with the hole to create the little loop that my badge holder could go through.

I used Lily’s Sugar’n Cream cotton yarn for this, a D hook and a yarn needle.  (plus my imagination!)

I know I suck at explaining what I did.  Sorry.  Comment if you need help.

So, I am trying to vary up my extra-curricular activities so I started to crochet again.  I think I am hooked (pun intended). Here is my most recent creation.
Amigurumi Tripod Alien

I got the pattern for him at Pepperberry Crochet and best of all it was free.  He is so cute and super quick and easy.  Finally, a finished project!  I have so many other crochet projects that I want to do and I will post them up here and on Ravelry when they are finished.
