Yesterday I turned another year older. Seeing how I am only 27, it was almost a non-event to me. HH always has a difficult time figuring out what to get me for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. so I typically help him out by giving him a few suggestions about a month ahead of time. This time I asked for either an iPhone or a new tattoo. I really wanted the tattoo but I knew I wouldn’t get it. I didn’t, I got the 16G white iPhone. It is pretty awesome from what little time I have had playing with it.
My mom and I came up with a great present from her. They would keep Z from Saturday midday to Sunday early evening where we would meet to pick him up by us. It was the best gift she could have given us (both HH and I benefited from this gift so it is not mine alone to enjoy). We spent Saturday shopping all day and then we went and had a nice dinner together with a few drinks (where we both noticed that the place was really noisy and we hadn’t ever realized that before). We came home and had some “us” time and then we were bored. There wasn’t anything on TV and we were too tired and full to get up and go anywhere. Sunday was spent doing pretty much nothing except getting my iPhone. That took up the entire day for the most part.
We met my family and Z at a mexican place over by our house to “celebrate” my birthday. *yawn* I don’t really like the whole birthday dinner thing but since I am SOOO compromising I went along with it for everyone else’s enjoyment. Huge mistake. Someone told them it was my birthday. Every waiter came out at the end of dinner with this huge ass sombrero that they made me wear while they sang “Happy Birthday”. Livid does not even describe how I felt. Needless to say, there are NO pictures of that.

That is what happens when you put a cheap, freshwater aquarium on a cabinet not made for the weight of an aquarium for a few years. Catastrophic failure resulting in a huge mess to clean up.
The funny part is that we weren’t supposed to be at home when it broke. We were supposed to have gone to a family reunion but everyone in our house is sick so we couldn’t go. We were watching TV when all of a sudden POP and then water started pouring out and down the front of the built-in, pooling around the subwoofer and treking toward the rug. Thankfully we have tile floors and my cat-like reflexes which meant that there was very little damage done. Thank goodness we were home because that would have been a huge mess.
Yesterday we replaced it with a new and improved aquarium that is a 90-gallon bow-front tank, stand and cap with a sump filtration system. It is going to be saltwater aquarium. My HH is so proud of it and it looks phenomenal in the entryway.

Yesterday was the first whole day that my inlaws have watched Z since he has become a precocious toddler. After the way our week started, with them getting used to all of the new crap they would have to carry around, I figured that it might be harder on them than they initially thought. They aren’t old or decrepit, Z just requires everyone else to run on the same amount of energy that he does.
I spent the whole day at work worrying about him and praying that he would be tolerable at least. Apparently, I worried for nothing. I got home and he was sitting on the couch with his Papa eating barbecue potato chips with a bowl of fresh peach cut up in front of him. I would have picked the chips too if I were him. Nothing against peach but junk food is always good especially since I never buy much of it. I got to hear about how he went out for breakfast and ate all of his meat and eggs but wouldn’t eat pancakes. Then he went to Target and roamed the store. He only came home with a toy shark, a book and some kids songs CDs. I have to admit they must have done pretty good to keep from coming home with a cart full of crap like we usually do. They rounded out the outing with a trip to the grocery where they got some eggs (we had 2 dozen, now we have 3) and lunchmeat and other miscellaneous goods that we don’t usually stock. They cam home, Z took a 2 hour nap, played a bunch and ate snacks the rest of the day.
Nobody seemed worse for wear except maybe me last night. I was exhausted and layed down around 8 and fell asleep. I didn’t get my hug and kiss night-night and Z wasn’t up when I left for work today. I miss him so much right now it hurts.
